Before we got pregnant, before we even started thinking about kids, I had the picture in my head of my perfect family. You know, the one with a white picket fence, a big brother and little sister, and a golden retriever. All that stuff. And then we found out we were having a girl.
I couldn't be happier to have Olivia. She is a wonderful, smart, funny little girl! And when I get to buy all kinds of pink, glittery clothes and toys, I wondered why I even cared. My baby is healthy, happy and thriving, and I couldn't be any luckier! And then, we found out we were pregnant again :)
After everything we'd been through, and knowing how blessed we are, we honestly did not care if we had a boy or another girl. After watching mommas in my January Moms Group deal with bumps along the way in less than just the first year of their baby's life, I will be happy to have another healthy little one.
We decided to have an elective ultrasound a few weeks ago to find out the gender of Baby #2. We wanted to surprise everyone, and make the announcement at Christmas (technically on Christmas Eve, since we visited most of our families then). Everyone had their guesses, but luckily, I stuck it out and didn't tell them! I'm not that great at coming up with fun ways to announce things like this, but thankfully I got a really cute suggestion.
Since we announced it on Facebook with Olivia in her big sister shirt, we would have her open a present in front of everyone with either "Little Brother" or "Little Sister". Obviously, I didn't think it through enough that she would be too young to really enjoy or try to open her presents. But, with a little help, she made her announcement! :)
I am so excited to finally announce that we will be having another girl! Deanna Marie ♥
